Generation 7

23. Michael Joseph Knittel

Lineage: Joseph (Josef)6, David5, Hans4, Hans3, Hans/Johannes2, Stephan1

Born: November 24, 1733 in Schmiden, Neckarkreis, Wuerttemberg, Germany.

Died: June 13, 1789 in Richmond Township, Berks County, Pennsylvania. He was buried at Zion Lutheran in Moselem Springs, Berks County, PA.

Married: Anna Maria Schatz on December 14, 1756 in Richmond Township, Berks County, Pennsylvania. She was the daughter of Johan Schatz and Susannah. She was born about 1733 in Richmond Township and her death is unknown. There is a note from the Pennsylvania Dutch center in Kutztown. It comes from Morton Montgomery who lived at the same time as Michael. When Michael moved to Berks County and got married, there was no church building available. So when they married, it was in a meadow on a warm late fall day on the inside bend of the Schuylkill River. Morton recorded that there was "stock-a-plenty." - This information is from Roger Knittle.
